RTDNA and Loyola University Chicago are pleased to announce Minnesota Public Radio’s Angela Davis will be joining the faculty of this July’s Anchor and Producer Leadership Summit to present one of two keynote sessions.

Registration for the summit is open now, and radio and television anchors and producers as well as digital producers are invited to attend the two-and-a-half day training July 10-12 focused on news ethics, storytelling and newsroom leadership.

Davis will present a keynote session on “Your Leadership Voice.”

She joins KARE11 storyteller Boyd Huppert who will also present a keynote session on “Capturing and Coaching Powerful Stories.”

Davis is a veteran journalist who joined MPR News in November 2018 after more than 20 years of reporting and anchoring in the Twin Cities and other cities throughout the country.

Her new news program, MPR News with Angela Davis, launched in December 2018. The show aims to help make sense of Minnesota news and issues, and often focuses on how the state is changing.

Davis talks with Minnesotans close to the issues and invites listeners to call in and join the conversation.

Davis is also a community leader, having served on the Board of Directors for Twin Cities Academy and currently serving on the Board of Directors for the YWCA Minneapolis and as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Davis joins experienced broadcast news trainers Jill Geisler and Scott Libin and their guest faculty members including Susan Ramsett, VP & GM, KWQC-TV6; Terence Shepard, News Director, WLRN News; Chip Mahaney, News Director, WCPO-TV; Richelle Rogers, Loyola University Chicago professor and veteran network producer; Steve Ackermann, former news executive.

The summit will include training on coaching, writing, breaking news, conflict resolution, newsroom culture and leadership.

10 scholarships toward tuition, travel and lodging are available for journalists of color or working in small markets thanks to the support of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation. Scholarship applications are due April 30.

Registration closes June 26. Learn more and register here.
