The RIAS German Exchange Progam is held twice each year, as American journalists travel to Europe for a two-week fellowship. Since 1993, RTDNF has co-sponsored and administered exchange and production programs to give journalists the opportunity to learn directly about Germany's culture, politics and practice of journalism.
RTDNF and the RIAS Berlin Kommission actively support blogging by RIAS fellows throughout the program portion of their trip. We encourage bloggers to reach out to their fellow program participants in advance of the start of the program, and to communicate with their audience during the fellowship.
Over the past few years we have had a number of bloggers posting thoughts and perspectives from their meetings, visits, and travels. If you would like to apply to become a RIAS Fellow, learn more on our exchange program page.
October Fellow Anthony Advincula is a multi-media reporter based in New York City for New America Media. This is his first visit to Germany. He is posting during and after his exchange visit on his blog.
October Fellow Shawn Flynn, Managing Editor for Time Warner Cable News-Charlotte is also blogging about his experiences.
