The RTDNA Safety Committee is tasked with discussion about and around the safety and security of journalists. In cooperation with the President, Executive Director, staff and other relevant committees and volunteer leadership, the Safety Committee should engage with all sectors of RTDNA membership to encourage reporting of threats, attacks or arrests targeting journalists to RTDNA for appropriate action; uphold the mission of RTDNA’s advocacy efforts by sharing relevant topics, ideas and information with the President and Executive Director, as well as amplifying key advocacy messages to their own networks and peers; provide insight to RTDNA staff on relevant topics and ideas for training around safety and security for journalists; and, ensure topics, discussions and all efforts have a key perspective on diversity, equity and inclusion.
